Tania Matouk, DNP, PMHNP-BC

Welcome! I’m Tania, a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I received my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree and my Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), where I now serve as adjunct professor.

My approach combines medication, psychotherapy, lifestyle modifications, and collaborative goal setting. I view mental health as a unique combination of art and science that balances evidence-based practice with holistic treatment plans. I believe that psychiatry is a highly integrative field and I am committed to working with you to achieve your unique goals. Areas of particular interest include trauma, grief, adjustment disorders, acute and chronic anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder, but I am always excited to expand my knowledge!

Having grown up internationally, I speak Arabic and French and am passionate about providing culturally competent care. My path to psychiatry is also shaped by my background as a second-degree nurse, as I originally studied English literature and experimental theater before transitioning into nursing. These creative roots have given me a profound interest in individual narratives, creative expression, and the alchemy of human connection.

When I'm not in the clinic or teaching, I like to play with my cats, make art, and walk in nature. I am grateful to be working in a field I love and am excited to partner with you!
